German Road Oktoberfest
Fall on the Farm, the annual celebration of fall at Piney River Brewing, is planned for Saturday, October 18.
Fall on the Farm will be held at the BARn—the brewery and tap room located off Junction ZZ in Bucyrus—from 2 to 10 p.m. with featured beers, live music, and German food.
Featured beers at Fall on the Farm are German Road Oktoberfest; Bugle Brown Ale, Current Situation IPA, and Paw Paw French Saison. German Road is Piney River’s traditional fall seasonal beer. Bugle Brown Ale, a new beer for Piney River and a small batch release, is an American-style brown ale with a malt forward flavor and slight hop finish. Current Situation IPA changes with every small batch release, and this recipe is a Northern-style India pale ale featuring cashmere and azacca hops. Paw Paw French Saison is a returning small batch beer, a French saison-style fermented on paw paw fruit.
In addition to the new beers for Fall on the Farm, Piney River’s tap list includes beers like their Black Walnut Wheat, Old Tom Porter, and several other ales and lagers. Andy’s Root Beer, a non-alcoholic root beer is available and Waves Cider is available, too.
Music will be kicked off by the band One More Dollar at 2. One More Dollar is a roots-based, folk music trio featuring multi-instrumentalists Alisa Thomas, Robert Adkison, and Jeremy Meyers. Drifters Mile will play at 6, and the four-piece string band features original music and covers of classic tunes performed in a contemporary roots and Americana style. Dancing boots are encouraged!
Local German food will be available all day from Freiheit Ranch, also based in Bucyrus. Freiheit Ranch will have charcuterie plates, spaetzle, grilled fresh sausages, and more, much of which is from pigs raised at the Ranch.
Freiheit Ranch and Piney River are hosting a few games during the day, too, including sausage eating and stein holding. Freiheit Ranch will have a German cookie decorating table available, too.
“Fall on the Farm is family-friendly, and there is no charge for admission,” Joleen Durham, owner said. “We hope for a beautiful fall day of fun with all of our friends.”
Fall on the Farm is a free event and open to all ages. Information for area hotels, camping, and other accommodations near Bucyrus are available for out-of-town visitors here.
