It’s really hard to believe that nine years ago we opened the red door on the BARn and invited anyone that was interested to come try some beer that Brian and I brewed on our Sabco Brew Magic. Andy was a four-year old. We had our first dog, Sam, and our first cats, Barney and Pumpkin. The girlfriends were all pretty young.
Fast forward nine years–Andy’s got his own Root Beer line! We’ve got our second dog, Annie, and two more cats, Skylar and BC. Some of the girlfriends’ babies are raising their own young on the Farm these days. It’s been a fast nine years.
Perhaps the coolest thing about the 8th Aleiversary is that Brian exclaimed tonight at dinner, “I feel like we have the best tap line up ever this year!”
He’s right; we have a solid line up of beers from your old favorites like Float Trip Ale to classic seasonals like Crankbait Cream Ale to crazy good mixed fermentation beers. Debuting this year at the Aleiversary is our first ever Barleywine. No fancy names here, just Barleywine because it’s simply that good. Aged for a year in oak barrels, 10% ABV and delicious, we can’t wait to share it with you.
The Mule Team IPA, though. Wow! We changed things up a bit this year making a brut-style imperial IPA, and we loaded the beer exclusively with Nelson Sauvin hops–late whirlpool additions and double dry-hopped. The aroma and the flavor are crazy good. It’s also 10% ABV and about 30 IBUs.
Here’s a little bit more about what to expect during our 8th Aleiversary weekend:
First and foremost, we will be celebrating with Piney River beer all weekend long–Friday from 4 to 9 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 12 to 5 p.m.
We will not have a food truck at the BARn on Friday or Sunday, but we will have our delicious Piney River Pizza. So, if you want a pizza with your beer, have our staff whip one up for you.
Do you need a place to stay this weekend? Check out the variety of places in our area under “local info”. Boiling Springs Resort in Licking has camping and RV hook ups available, and they will shuttle you to/from the brewery. Area motels have rooms available, and you may be able to find a cool cottage or cabin to stay in, too.
Need a shuttle to/from the brewery from the Houston vicinity? Show Me Shuttle Service is shuttling all day long to/from the brewery, contact them by calling or texting 417-217-5401. Boiling Springs Resort is also doing shuttling, and you can schedule your ride with them by calling 573-674-3488.
The BIG event will be Saturday’s party with lots of beer; Bubba’s BBQ and The Chef’s Table from Dawt Mill will have plenty of food for everyone, and two bands—The Layton Hollow Gals and The Hurricanes, both from Springfield, will provide music.
Spring finally seems to have sprung in the Ozarks, and we are expecting a beautiful day on Farm. (And if something weird does happen with the weather, we’ve got plenty of indoor space available, too.)
If you’ve got a camp chair or two, bring them along. You may want to put them out for a sit in the grass around the brewery. Pop up tents, tables, picnic blankets and yard games are welcome, too.
Here are a few more details for the big day:
- The Aleiversary is free admission as our thanks to you for your great support over the past 8 years!
- The Aleiversary is open to all ages. We will give all attendees over the age of 21 a wristband so you don’t have to show your ID every time you want a beer. If you don’t have a wristband, you will be asked to show ID and our servers can provide you with a wristband.
- Pets are welcome, but they MUST be on a leash.
- There will be two locations serving beer–inside the BARn taproom and outside at our Piney River beer tent. You will need a “beer ticket” to purchase a beer. All beers are $5. Some beers are in a 16 oz. cup and some are in a 12 oz. cup, but they are all $5.
- You can purchase beer tickets in the tent outside the brewery or in the tap room with cash or credit. There is no limit to the number of beer tickets you buy at one time. Please be aware: you cannot hand cash to a server and purchase a beer. You must hand over a beer ticket. This will make the beer lines move much faster.
- We GREATLY appreciate the food vendors coming out to serve food, so we would like to kindly ask that you enjoy something delicious from them. Food will be served from 12 p.m. until 7 p.m. or until it’s gone.
- Please bring a DD to the Aleiversary or make arrangements for a shuttle ride. Andy’s Root Beer will be available in the taproom and at the beer trailer. Water will be available, too.
- OUTSIDE ALCOHOL IS ABSOLUTELY NOT PERMITTED. We have a wide variety of beers to choose from for everyone to enjoy.
- Last call will be at 6:30 p.m.
- Due to the large number of people in attendance at the Aleiversary, we will not fill growlers, do sample trays, or give tours on 3/23. We will fill crowlers only beginning at 6 p.m. in the BARn, and they are “to go” only.
- Finally, 2019 Mule Team IPA will be for sale at both beer pouring stations. We have a limited number of 4-packs of our 2018 Mule Team IPA for sale, $12 each. You will be able to purchase a ticket for a 4-pack (or more) of 2019 Mule Team IPA at the Beer Tent or in the BARn. You will receive a ticket for your 4-pack(s), and you can redeem it as you leave.
Thank you so much for joining us at the Aleiversary. We hope you and your family and friends have a wonderful time. Piney River would not be what it is today without the support of craft beer loving friends like you!
