What’s Your Current Situation?

Last fall, Brian, Andy and I were floating down the upper Current River enjoying tunes, beers and root beers, and talking about Piney River Brewing.  As you know, our beers our inspired by nature.

Brian and I already had in mind that we wanted to introduce a new IPA in 2018.  Missouri Mule, our year-round IPA is great, and Mule Team, our imperial IPA that we release every March for our anniversary, is awesome, but we wanted to try our hand again with an IPA. So, we were thinking about that.

Then, while sitting in our kayak floating on one of the best spring-fed rivers in the world that also happens to be in our backyard, we started talking about naming a beer after the Current River.  Somehow, it’s a little foggy, but I remember saying, “How about Current Situation?”

Bingo. A beer name was born. And what a perfect name for a beer in the Ozarks?!

At first, we didn’t know that Current Situation would be an IPA. Brian and Matt Beatty, our head brewer, developed the recipe for Current Situation IPA—6-percent ABV so it’s an easy drinking IPA and hopped and dry-hopped with Citra and Mosaic hops for a delightfully dank aroma.

Current Situation may not always be an IPA, but it’s our Current Situation.

And we hope it’s your Current Situation, too.

Cheers!
