Ninth Aleiversary Coming Up at the BARn

We are celebrating nine (!) years at Piney River Brewing on Saturday, March 21st at the brewery in Bucyrus.

The “9th Aleiversary” party will be held at the BARn—the brewery and tap room located off Junction ZZ in Bucyrus—from 12 to 7 p.m. The annual party features beer releases, live music, and food.

Not all of the special beer releases for this year’s anniversary party are finalized, but two mixed fermentation sour beers are part of the lineup. Missouri Waltz with Blueberries, an ale aged in a Missouri white oak foeder and aged again on fresh blueberries, will be released. Low Water Bridge, an easy drinking, dry-hopped and hazy India Pale Ale, will also be released.

Kirk Pierce and Sean Conway, two musicians with roots in Texas County, are kicking off music for the Aleiversary with acoustic original tunes and covers. Jervis Jort, a five-person band from Kansas City, will follow with a mix of rock, blues, and funk styling to original and cover tunes.

Rounding out the day will be food by The Chef’s Table from Dawt Mill in Tecumseh. Chef Ryan Van Winkle is known for utilizing Piney River beer with his handcrafted fare. Food from The Chef’s Table will be available all day.

Admission is $5 per person and includes a commemorative 16-ounce glass to be used for beer fills all day long.

“We have seen how little waste is generated when we offer a stein at our annual Oktoberfest event,” Joleen Durham, co-founder and owner, said. “We decided to make a unique glass for everyone to use at the Aleiversary on March 21 to keep more plastic out of our local landfill.”

All ages are welcome at the 9th Aleiversary, and minors will not be charged admission to the event. Leashed pets are also welcome.

“We are looking forward to enjoying a beautiful spring day in the Ozarks at our upcoming Aleiversary,” Durham said.

Durham described the Aleiversary as “the biggest event in Bucyrus”.  Each spring hundreds of people from across the region visit the Piney River Farm for the Aleiversary.

The Piney River tap room will feature an extensive list of year-round and some limited release beers during the Aleiversary festivities, too. Andy’s Root Beer, a non-alcoholic root beer, is available for kids and designated drivers.

The special release beers will be available all weekend long, beginning on Friday afternoon when the tap room opens that weekend and going through Sunday evening, if they do not run out.

“Saturday’s party can be a little too busy for some people, so you are welcome to visit us on Friday or Sunday, too,” Durham said.  “You will be able to enjoy a pint in the tap room or purchase the limited release beers to take home.”

Weather permitting, most of Saturday’s activities will take place outside.

“If the sun is shining, we encourage you to bring a camp chair to enjoy the bands, food, and beer outside with us on the 21st,” Durham said.

Piney River Brewing is located on Durham’s 160-acre farm.  The tap room and a portion of brewing operations are located in a restored 75-year old barn. The Durham’s founded the brewery in 2010 with a 10-gallon brewing system.  Today, most the brewing and packaging operations are located in a recently built 12,000 square foot barn on the property.

The brewery has distribution throughout Missouri and Arkansas.
