Fest with Beers in October

The leaves are changing. There’s a cool nip in the air every morning. The antlered deer and brown trout are showing off. The Oktoberfest lagers and pumpkin spiced beers are on the shelves, too.

This is the time of year when we would usually regale you with a Saturday afternoon of music, food, and beer with Fall on the Farm. Due to concerns with community spread of Covid-19 in large gatherings, we continue to keep the BARn open but keeping the music simple and the food limited to pizza. We GREATLY appreciate all of your support over the past few months since we re-opened in May, and we cannot wait to hold a festival again at the Farm!

Meanwhile, there’s ample opportunity to fest all month at the BARn. German Road Oktoberfest and Sweet Potato Ale are here–on tap and in cans. Come drink your fill at the BARn and take lots home to enjoy, too. We have music lined up on Saturday afternoons all month long. The best beertenders in the world can sling a Piney River pizza or pretzel your way with your beers if you are so inclined.

For the love of craft beer in Missouri and beyond, you definitely need to take advantage of the Great American Beer Festival passport for the next two weekends at the BARn and at other breweries across the state and beyond. Because GABF in Denver was cancelled this year, craft breweries across the US have “Brewnited” to bring the festival to you with the GABF Passport! For only $20 you can get GABF deals at over 1,000 breweries across the US. Chances are, you won’t be able to hit up all of them, but 20 Missouri breweries (including yours truly) are participating, too. In fact, at Piney River, we are offering buy one get one Crowlers, so if you but two to three Crowlers (depending upon style), you will cover the cost of your passport. The GABF Passport also gives you the opportunity to watch the GABF awards ceremony and participate in virtual tastings and other craft beer related good times. Finally, every passport purchase helps support the Brewers Association, the voice of craft brewers in our country.

Finally, the Missouri Craft Brewers Guild has kicked off the first ever Missouri craft beer enthusiast club–the MOB! The Guild’s mission is to protect and to promote Missouri’s craft brewers, and your annual $35 membership in the MOB gives you a bunch of perks from Missouri breweries as well as the opportunity to have first dibs on craft beer related news and events as it happens. Plus, your membership makes a difference in the future of craft beer in Missouri, and if you’ve read this far, you KNOW you want to be part of that. Oh yeah, show us your MOB membership at the BARn, and you get 10% off–every time you visit.

Happy festing y’all! Make plans to enjoy a beer with us or at one of your favorite craft breweries soon!

Cheers from Brian and I! (In Mother’s Backyard the first weekend of fall)
